The Receipts
Have Receipts.

A 44-point receiver, a 139-point commissioner, four unbeaten teams and a defending champion who may want to sue the schedule. Week 2 was not interested in subtlety.

The most devastating lineup in Newtown this week was three people and a technicality.

Josh Allen, Jonathan Taylor and the Carolina defense scored 93.02 points for All-Madden. Big Gruden Guy's entire roster scored 88.98. That is not a matchup; it is a math problem being read aloud at a disciplinary hearing.

Elsewhere, Jaxon Smith-Njigba dropped 44.00 for Lil Melonheads, Davante Adams answered with 41.50 for Always Jopo, and somehow there still had to be nine other starters on each side. By Tuesday morning, four teams were 2–0, four were 1–1 and four were 0–2. Symmetry is lovely until you are in the final group.

“Two weeks is a tiny sample. Unless you're 2–0, in which case it is a binding historical verdict.”

Six finals, no appeals

01
THE THREE-MAN DEMOLITION CREW

All-Madden 139.02, Big Gruden Guy 88.98

Josh Allen (40.82), Jonathan Taylor (27.20) and the Panthers defense (25.00) combined for 93.02. That is 4.04 more than Big Gruden Guy's entire roster. Mike did not need the other starters; he brought them anyway, apparently to help carry the wreckage. Week 1's loss is now a distant memory, while Dale is 0–2 and the league has begun checking on him in shifts.

02
THE 44-POINT ESCAPE

Lil Melonheads 108.70, Always Jopo 103.00

Jaxon Smith-Njigba erupted for 44.00 on nine catches, 155 yards and three touchdowns. Joe countered with a frankly absurd 41.50 from Davante Adams, yet Adam still escaped by 5.70—the week's closest finish. Somewhere, the rest of both lineups are politely asking that we stop looking at the box score. The Melonheads stay perfect; Jopo learns that 41.50 from one receiver is somehow not a warranty.

03
THE ROOKIE GETS HIS DRIVER'S LICENSE

The Rookie 122.52, JB Losman 80.82

CeeDee Lamb detonated for 37.30, Jaylen Waddle added 19.80 and Dalton Kincaid supplied 19.00. The Rookie's first win was a 41.70-point announcement that the rebuild has found the gas pedal. JB, meanwhile, scored 80.82 and has now lost twice; the name Losman is becoming an uncomfortable bit of nominative determinism.

04
THE CHAMPION'S SECOND POWER OUTAGE

Duf Dynasty 112.96, Musco Lighting 92.58

Dak Prescott threw four touchdowns for 29.76 fantasy points, and Christian McCaffrey chipped in 20.60. Musco got 30.98 from Patrick Mahomes and still lost by 20.38. Duf quietly moved to 2–0, which is no longer quiet because this sentence exists. The defending champion is 0–2 with 226.38 points for and 271.62 against: an excellent offense trapped in a haunted schedule.

05
THE DEFENSIVE MASTERPIECE NOBODY REQUESTED

Hot Dookie 87.86, Purple People Eaters 78.32

Last week's 158.66-point Purple explosion became a 78.32-point power-saving mode. Kenneth Walker III gave Purple 22.80, but Hot Dookie squeezed through by 9.54 behind Jahmyr Gibbs's 20.30. Nathan remains 2–0 despite posting the lowest winning score of Week 2. Call it grit, call it luck, call it whatever you want; the standings only know how to count wins.

06
THE RECEIVER CARTEL EXPANDS

Don’t Touchdown There 112.14, The Oppressors 89.28

Amon-Ra St. Brown delivered 32.70 and DeVonta Smith added 24.70, a combined 57.40 from the receiving department. The Oppressors found 22.40 from James Cook and 21.00 from the Patriots defense, but those were two excellent sandbags against a rising tide. Mike Poeltl is 2–0; Anthony is 0–2 and may request a league-wide moratorium on opponents having wide receivers.

WEEK 2 MVP

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Nine catches. 155 yards. Three touchdowns. 44.00 fantasy points. Lil Melonheads won the league's tightest game by 5.70, which means every one of those points was load-bearing. JSN did not have a breakout; he performed emergency structural engineering.

Week 2 power rankings

These are editorial rankings, not Yahoo's standings. Movement is measured against our Week 1 list. Wins count; so does the manner in which you acquired them.

01
UP 2

Lil Melonheads

2–0, first in Yahoo's standings and owner of the week's 44-point receiver. The youthful experiment has graduated from 'interesting' to 'please stop scoring.'

02
UP 3

Don’t Touchdown There

Two wins, 235.10 points for and a receiver room that looks like a monopolistic business practice. Amon-Ra and DeVonta supplied the latest evidence.

03
UP 6

All-Madden

The league's highest Week 2 score was 139.02. Allen, Taylor and Carolina alone outscored the opponent. The commissioner has apparently found the 'easy' setting.

04
UP 3

Duf Dynasty

Still unbeaten, still dependable, and now equipped with a four-touchdown Dak performance. The Dynasty is beginning to resemble its name.

05
DOWN 1

Hot Dookie

A 2–0 record is unimpeachable; 87.86 points are extremely impeachable. Nathan gets the win and a gentle reminder that the scoreboard can ask follow-up questions.

06
DOWN 5

Purple People Eaters

From 158.66 to 78.32 in one week. The Week 1 ceiling remains enormous; the Week 2 floor came with its own basement tour.

07
UP 4

The Rookie

A 122.52-point first win, powered by CeeDee's 37.30, makes the future look considerably less theoretical.

08
DOWN 2

Always Jopo

Davante Adams scored 41.50 and Joe still lost by 5.70. The process was fine; the fantasy gods were being theatrical.

09
DOWN 7

Musco Lighting

The champion is 0–2 but has 226.38 points for, more than two undefeated teams. This is not a bad roster; this is a schedule wearing a ski mask.

10
DOWN 2

The Oppressors

Two respectable weeks, two losses and 222.60 points against. Anthony's grievance has supporting documentation.

11
DOWN 1

JB Losman

The upside case remains alive, but 80.82 in Week 2 is not evidence for the defense. The jury would like to see Week 3.

12
EVEN

Big Gruden Guy

At 0–2 with 146.84 total points, Dale can at least say he was outscored by three All-Madden starters. This is not comfort, but it is a sentence.

What Week 2 actually taught us

  1. Lil Melonheads are for real. Two wins and 236.20 points, with JSN apparently conducting the offense from a watchtower.
  2. The league has four different flavors of 2–0. The Melonheads' fireworks, the Touchdown cartel, Duf's steady machinery and Hot Dookie's win-by-any-means operation all count equally in the standings.
  3. Musco is the best 0–2 team nobody wants to face. Mahomes scored 30.98 and the defending champion still fell. A turnaround remains plausible; a refund for the schedule does not.
  4. The Rookie is no longer a future-tense concept. A 122.52-point win makes the lab results official.
  5. Big Gruden Guy may need a ceremonial reset button. Two games, 146.84 total points. The group chat should be gentle for at least four minutes.

The way-too-early playoff meter

Six of twelve teams make the playoffs. These are The Legends Wire's estimated chances after Week 2, weighing record, points scored and points allowed—not official Yahoo odds or a statistical simulation. The percentages across all teams add up to six playoff spots. There are twelve regular-season weeks left, so please do not frame these and hang them above the fireplace.

Lil Melonheads75%

The 2–0 start and 236.20 points are the strongest early résumé.

Don’t Touchdown There72%

Two wins and a receiver room that keeps issuing invoices.

Duf Dynasty70%

The undefeated machine has yet to need a miracle.

Hot Dookie65%

Still 2–0, though the 87.86-point escape narrows the cushion.

All-Madden64%

A 139.02-point rebound makes the 1–1 record look modest.

Purple People Eaters54%

The Week 1 ceiling is real; Week 2 revealed the floor.

Musco Lighting50%

Winless, but 226.38 points for says the champion is far from finished.

The Rookie47%

The 122.52-point breakthrough puts a playoff case on the table.

Always Jopo43%

A 5.70-point loss despite Davante's 41.50 keeps this nearly even.

The Oppressors35%

Two losses, but 197.64 points for leaves room to recover.

JB Losman16%

The 0–2 start needs a fast offensive correction.

Big Gruden Guy9%

At 0–2 with 146.84 points, the climb is already steep.

Week 3 arrives with Lil Melonheads and Don’t Touchdown There protecting perfection, All-Madden demanding a recount of preseason doubts, and the winless quartet shopping for answers. The waiver wire opens. The excuses are already on back order.
